Baby Hats, and a Chemo Cap followup

Okay, we all know I'm not a kid person. Not even remotely.  But lately, several of my friends have had babies, and that means baby showers.  Most people now do gift registries (thank you, from the gift-giving challenged for doing that!!!!)  But I like giving handmade things as gifts, I think it's just a little bit more special. Plus, it turns out knitted baby hats are an awesome way to use up leftover yarn from adult knitted hats. ; )  And, because they are small, they only take a few evenings to make, which appeals to my need to accomplish things.  So I think it's a win-win, unless the recipients don't really like the hats. So you know how excited I was to find out the parents liked the hats! This was the first batch I made, for one of my greyhound friend's newborn (who was yet to be born at the time):

She had her baby shortly after, and sent me these pics. Is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen???  Zeke Dale, future goofy hat lover. Ah, this is such a precious picture, it almost makes my biological clock tick. No, actually, it just makes me want to make Jesse an awesome striped hat. ; )

 I sent the picture of the hats to another greyhound friend, and she wanted a pumpkin hat for her toddler. A request for a hat? Totally made my day. I worked one up and sent it out, and it turned out to be a big hit. Mason in his awesome pumpkin hat:

Holy cow, how cute are these little people?? (I must be getting soft in my old age!!!) I sent out the chemo caps I had knitted for Knots of Love shortly after mailing these hats;  Christine from Knots of Love called me on the phone to thank me for donating them, and said the workmanship was excellent, and they were really great hats. (I'm not going to lie, I was completely ecstatic when she said that!!!)  They were sent to two different cancer treatment centers, one in Arizona, and another in Missouri.  She also sent me information on signing up with Joanns as a VIP belonging to a nonprofit sewing group, so that I can get a discount on yarn in the future to knit more hats.  I was so blown away to even get a phone call from a charity about such a small donation, never mind the support and encouragement on how to continue to help. I can't say enough good things about this charity, and about my experience so far. I will absolutely continue knitting hats for them, and will continue to be grateful for the opportunity to help. I had no idea when I started knitting that it would lead to the joy that it has.  <3
